Public and Private Network – Examples and Cons to Using Them

A private network is pretty much a network owned specifically for use for a person or business. I guess you can use a law firm as an example. There are 5 offices and in each office is a computer connected to each other via the company network. The sole purpose of that network is used for looking up clients, cases, and to perform other tasks related to the job. Now more specifically, this network will most likely be a VPN or virtual private network. What makes this a virtual network? This is a VPN because attorneys working at home or on their break on a laptop can access the private network securely through a separate internet connection. The benefits to using a VPN for company needs is that it encrypts all incoming and outgoing data so that it is not easily retrieved by someone who should not have access to the information. It has been discovered, usually long after the incident has occurred that someone has hacked into a network and was able to retrieve all outgoing and incoming data. This data can, and usually, contain personal and extremely confidential information. So it is wise to take the extra step in securing the information.A con to using a private network is that access levels need to be granted to certain people. If a problem happens, which they sometimes do, you will most likely not be able to contact the secretary to reveal the information needed because they are warned ahead of time not to, especially, if it is a highly secured network. Another con to using a privatized network is the bandwidth allowed which is always regulated and may not be able to do much during non-business hours. Also, all traffic is usually regulated, bandwidth limits are set, and can get extremely costly during maintenance compared to using a public network. An example of a public network could be AT&T. Pretty much, this could be considered more of a WAN than a “public network”. There is the centralized server then there are the multiple location servers. Public networks are used in more demanding areas of communications, power grids, and etc. This eliminates the need to have numerous private networks connected into another private network. When you use your cell phone, the network used is actually public even though you get billed from an unspecified carrier. A pro to using public networks is that they serve for more numerous needs than a simple private network. While a private network may be allocated to a single building, a public network is allocated to a distance of functions and uses. The cons to using a public network are that they are prone to natural disasters, human error, bandwidth allowed, and numerous other things.

Determining Type of DSLR Digital Camera to Buy

Choosing right DSLR digital camera to purchase can be a challenge. Think through that kind of photographs are going to be take for most of time using DSLR digital camera and select the one which suits your need most. Choose between the different kind of photography you are planning to be involved in and determine a right camera for you needs. If you are planning to participate in nature photography you have to consider a top of the line DSLR digital cameras as they present a longer zoom range and mating it with a scope which you will need for this kind of photography.

If a sport photography is your choice you will need a digital camera with a great focal length, fast shutter speeds and a high – speed motor drives to catch precise moment of action.
For architectural photography you will need a digital camera with very wide – angel lenses to provide extra space around the building to avoid keystone effect. It means thattaking a shot of building and fitting it in the image it looks like the structure is going to fall. Some DSLR cameras have a tilt or shift control lenses to solve this problem.Underwater photography obviously requires waterproof cameras or special underwater camera housing. Sometimes it is cheaper to purchase digital camera specially designed for underwater use. But those cameras often offer lower resolutions than standard cameras. It only means that you can save more shots into memory but their enlargement won’t be as good as the cameras with high resolution.

At last think of your own standards you want your digital camera to match and buy one which suits you best.

Sigma 18-250mm – Discover a Great All Purpose Walk Around Lens For Your DSLR

Sound like a fantasy? Think again. Lens technology, just like camera technology, is improving all the time. There are now a few high quality lenses for your DSLR that have wide angle AND telephoto capabilities, and they have excellent optics, to boot. The Sigma 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM Zoom Lens is just such a lens. As you can see from the numbers, it is an 18mm wide angle lens at the short end. But it will zoom to a whopping 250mm at the long end.The Sigma 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM Zoom Lens fits the walk around category perfectly. Here is an explanation of the code you see after “Sigma”:

18-250mm is the focal length – 18mm means you can take a wide shot, like a picture of the landscape
F3.5-6.3 is the aperture value – the lower number, 3.5, is the aperture at 18mm and 6.3 is the aperture at 250mm. Aperture is how much light the lens will let in. The smaller the number, the more light.
DC refers to the type of glass in the lens. Dispersion Compensation – better than average lens glass so that there is less distortion in the photos.
OS stands for Optical Stabilization – the lens has a built in anti shake mechanism to prevent blurry photos at slower shutter speeds.

What all this means is that you can keep this lens on your camera for most normal situations.Maybe you can relate to this situation. You go to the zoo, one of your favorite places to visit because of the wonderfully different photos you can take. You attach a lens to your camera so that you can take pictures at the tiger area. It has to be a telephoto lens because you want to get close ups of the tigers. So there you are taking some great close ups of the big cats, when all of a sudden, right next to the tigers, the elephants line up like they were a circus act. But you can’t get the picture because you don’t have a wide enough lens on your camera.

If you just had that Sigma 18-250, you could have captured all the action without changing lenses. The same thing could happen while on vacation, or just about anywhere. You know it has happened to you more than once.I am not suggesting that you throw away your specialty lenses, like the 180mm macro. But you need one all purpose, walk around lens that you can rely on most of the time.
